Monthly Community Public Tours

Thank you for your interest in attending a historical tour of the Nevada National Security Site. Free monthly historical tours of the Site are offered to help the public learn how the Site has evolved over the years.

Tours are operated on a chartered bus with a restroom. Visitors depart from the Atomic Museum and travel 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, where you will cover nearly 250 miles of the Site. Each tour accommodates 50 people.

Reservations are closed for public tour dates in the first half of 2025.

Public tour dates for the second half of 2025 will be released at 10 a.m. PT March 24, 2025, via an online registration link under the Booking Tours tab.
Available 2025 Dates: July 21, August 18, September 15, October 20, November 17, and December 8.

Tour registration will be taken via the online registration link only. No email registrations will be accepted.

Three hundred (300) spots will be available and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats are limited, and we request participants reserve only one tour date per year.

The online registration link will be live for 30 minutes and will open at 10 a.m. PT Monday, March 24, 2025. The maximum group/family size accepted is four people.

Only one person from a group/family needs to complete the online registration link. Duplicate entries will be deleted.

The following information will be required of each person to register:

Full name
Email address
Date of birth
Place of birth (city and state)
Residential address with city, state, and zip code
Phone number

Visitors are required to be at least 14 years old and either a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident/Permanent Resident Alien Foreign National.

The NNSS complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you need assistance to access the tour, please indicate on the registration form.

Members of the media seeking a tour of the NNSS should contact MediaRelations@nv.doe.gov. Please include your name, news outlet, topics or locations of interest and deadline or timeline.

Confirmation

Participants who complete the online registration link will be notified via email of a confirmed visit within 60 days of registration.

A welcome package will be emailed 3 weeks prior to the visit date and will include: confirmation notice, agenda, acceptable forms of identification, prohibited articles lists, and map with directions to the Atomic Museum.

Required identification

REAL ID compliant state-issued driver’s license or identification card issued by the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) or one of the following:
U.S. passport
U.S. passport card
U.S. Customs and Border Protection trusted traveler card (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
U.S. military ID card
U.S. military dependent ID card
Department of Homeland Security-designated Enhanced Driver’s License
Native American tribal photo ID
HSPD-12 PIV card from any government agency (for identification only)
Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)

Any individual who does not have a REAL ID may bring their non-REAL ID and one of the following documents:
Birth certificate (original or certified copy)
U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card
Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561)
Native American Tribal document
Federal, state or local government-issued credentials for first responders with photo

Prohibited items

Cameras, camcorders or tape recorders
Binoculars or telescopes
Cellular phones, smart watches, Bluetooth-enabled devices (including pedometers), tracking devices such as Apple tags, iPad, laptops, etc.
Firearms, weapons or explosives
Any controlled substance, including marijuana
Alcoholic beverages
Any item prohibited by law

Appropriate attire

Casual attire with long pants, sleeved shirts, closed-toe sturdy shoes, and socks. No shorts, tank tops, sandals, or high heels will be permitted. Jackets are recommended during cooler months.

Clear bags are required. No backpacks will be permitted.

Visitors are prohibited from picking up or removing any objects, including soil, rocks, plant samples or metal, while at the Site. Failure to comply could result in termination of the tour.

Only registered and confirmed visitors are allowed to participate in NNSS visits.

What to bring

Southern Nevada, including the Site, is a dry climate and summer temperatures can top 100 degrees while winter can bring snow. Bring plenty of water and hydrate before and during the tour.

You can bring snacks, lunch, and non-alcoholic beverages on the bus. Lunch may also be purchased at the Site Bistro. Please note it is a cashless facility that only accepts VISA or MasterCard. Alcohol and controlled substances, including marijuana, are prohibited on the bus and at all NNSS locations.
