Inspiring engineering excellence
The NNSS was the proud grand prize sponsor of the Dec. 16 University of Nevada-Las Vegas Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering Fall Senior Design Awards, celebrating students’ innovative solutions to major challenges with a global perspective.

Spirit of the holidays
NNSS employees participated in the Las Vegas Great Santa Run, a major fundraiser for Opportunity Village that directly benefits individuals with disabilities in Southern Nevada.

Lacing up to give back
More than three dozen NNSS volunteers outfitted 538 Clark County School District Middle School students with a new pair of shoes, socks and dental kits Nov. 22 as part of the NNSS’ multi-year partnership with the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation.

Career pathway connections
Students met with NNSS Fire & Rescue to learn about the real-world applications of STEM in fire investigations, suppression system protection and construction regulations. Guests then experienced demonstrations of Fire & Rescue detection robotics, the Emergency Medical Services vehicle, response equipment plus the fan-favorite 1950 Seagrave fire engine.

Supporting our schools
NNSS employees participated in Helen Anderson Toland International Academy’s inaugural truck-or-treat event. The school and NNSS have a partnership of more than 25 years.

Inspiring women in STEM
NNSS Senior Engineer Dr. Alex Washington engaged girls and young women in their career possibilities through STEM at the Oct. 27 Girl Powered event in Las Vegas, presented by DISCOVERY Children’s Museum.

Making a difference
NNSS volunteers renovated the home of a U.S. Air Force veteran for Make a Difference Day Oct. 26 as part of the NNSS’ partnership with Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada.

Stepping up for our community
For the annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes, NNSS Outreach & Engagement, Health & Productivity and TEAM donated more than $2,500 to support the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, and the African American and Women’s Employee Resource Groups coordinated 300 individual snacks. More than a dozen employees participated in the Oct. 12 walk.

Celebrating inclusion and diversity at Las Vegas PRIDE
Twenty-eight NNSS employees marched with members and allies of the Southern Nevada LGBTQIA+ community for Las Vegas PRIDE Oct. 11.

STEM Saturday with altitude
October’s STEM Saturday featured demonstrations of autonomous systems. Students then took a turn piloting a drone with a transmitter!
