The Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS) launched the 2026 Student Program on May 19 with two engaging days focused on career development, collaboration and hands-on learning. Students took part in professional onboarding activities, headshot sessions, networking events and interactive resource booths designed to prepare them for a successful summer and help them build confidence in their new roles.

More than 85 students are participating in this year’s Student Program, representing a broad range of academic backgrounds, including engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, information technology, business administration and other areas of study. Internship opportunities span technical, professional and operational fields, giving students the chance to explore career paths connected to the NNSS mission. During the 12-week program, students work on meaningful projects that allow them to apply classroom learning in a real-world environment while gaining insight into careers in science, technology, business and national security.

This year’s students join the NNSS from universities across the United States:

“The Student Program serves as an important steppingstone for students exploring careers in national security and fields that support national security,” said NNSS Student Program Coordinator Nelida Rodriguez. “By working alongside experienced employees, students gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of careers that support our mission, while the NNSS benefits from the fresh ideas and perspectives students bring to the team.”
