NNSA Office of Infrastructure honors Nevada National Security Sites with 8 Excellence Awards

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Infrastructure has recognized the extraordinary work performed at the Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS) with a total of eight Excellence Awards.

The Excellence Awards are bestowed annually to teams that have executed project work above and beyond what is required by the Build SMART Initiative. This initiative, which is part of the NNSA Enterprise Blueprint, defines infrastructure priorities for the capabilities needed to achieve capacity, resilience and responsiveness across the Nuclear Security Enterprise. Qualities of SMART infrastructure projects include Strategic planning, Mission focus, Agility, Risk-informed decision making, and Timeliness.

The Office of Infrastructure Associate Administrator Nicole Nelson-Jean and Principal Deputy Associate Administrator Susan Wong hosted the award ceremony and presented 33 of these prestigious recognitions, eight of which went to teams from the NNSS.

Offering congratulations to the teams involved, NNSS Vice President of Mission Programs and Operations John Contardi said, “These projects represent significant accomplishments that directly move the mission forward by improving our capabilities, reliability and efficiency.” NNSS Vice President of Enabling Programs and Modernization Joel Leeman added, “The NNSS was very well represented in these complex-wide awards. Our sponsors appreciate our innovation, execution and overall commitment.”
