Leaders from NNSS Fire & Rescue met with dozens of Clark County School District students and members of the Southern Nevada community Nov. 2 for the third installment of 2024-2025 STEM Saturdays academic year programming. Now in its third year, STEM Saturdays is a joint presentation by the NNSS, Clark County School District Career and Technical Education, and the Atomic Museum to connect students with STEM subject matter experts in their field.
“This STEM Saturday was particularly special, as we saw more than 40 Clark County School District students join us through after-school programming, further connecting students to career possibilities and making real-world connections to the doors that STEM education can open,” said NNSS Outreach & Engagement Senior Administrative Assistant Brianna Majdanac.
Students learned about the real-world applications of STEM in fire investigations, suppression system protection and construction regulations. Guests then went to experience the demonstrations of Fire & Rescue detection robotics, the Emergency Medical Services vehicle, response equipment plus the fan-favorite 1950 Seagrave fire engine.
STEM Saturdays return Jan. 11 with a special look at meteorology.
